Service Overview

Rapid Professional
Drainage Response

Good brickwork is judged on the details most people never notice: consistent joints, a wall that is dead level and plumb, and new bricks that match the old closely enough that you cannot see the join. We handle facing brickwork and blockwork for extensions and outbuildings, garden and boundary walls, piers and gate posts, repointing tired or crumbling mortar, and forming or bricking up structural openings with the correct lintels. Matching brick and mortar on London's older housing stock is a craft in itself, since a modern off-the-shelf brick and a bright grey mortar will stand out against a weathered Victorian wall. We source reclaimed or matched bricks and colour-match the mortar so repairs blend in rather than advertise themselves.

When You Need This Service

Crumbling, sandy or receding mortar joints in need of repointing
A garden, boundary or retaining wall that is leaning or cracked
A new opening needed for bi-fold doors, a window or a knock-through
An old doorway or window to be bricked up and made good
Extension or outbuilding brickwork that must match the existing house

Step-By-Step Fulfillment

01

Assess & Match

We inspect the existing brick and mortar, agree the work, and source matching or reclaimed bricks where a repair needs to blend in.

02

Build

Brickwork or blockwork is laid to line and level, with movement joints, wall ties and lintels installed as the job requires.

03

Point & Finish

Joints are pointed in a matched mortar and the work is cleaned down, leaving a wall that looks like it has always been there.

Technical Clarifications

In most cases yes. We source reclaimed or closely matched bricks and colour-match the mortar, which matters just as much. A perfect brick let down by bright modern mortar still stands out, so we get both right.
If the mortar is crumbling, sandy to the touch, or has receded so the brick edges stand proud, it is due. Failed pointing lets water into the wall, so it is worth dealing with before it causes damp inside.
A wall over one metre next to a highway, or over two metres elsewhere, generally needs planning permission, and a shared boundary can bring the Party Wall Act into play. We will tell you which applies at survey.
