Service Overview

Rapid Professional
Drainage Response

Electrical work in a home is governed by Part P of the Building Regulations, and a significant amount of it has to be notified and certified. We carry out fault finding and repairs, additional sockets and lighting circuits, consumer unit and fuse board upgrades, outdoor and garden power, extractor fans, and full or partial rewires during refurbishment. Older London properties frequently still have rubber or fabric insulated cable, no earthing to lighting circuits and rewireable fuses, all of which are well past safe service life. We test before we start so that you find out what condition the installation is actually in, and you receive the appropriate certification for the work on completion.

When You Need This Service

Breakers or RCDs tripping repeatedly with no obvious cause
An old fuse board with rewireable fuses and no RCD protection
Sockets or switches that are warm, scorched or crackling
Rubber or fabric insulated cabling typical of pre 1960s wiring
Not enough sockets, leading to extension leads running between rooms

Step-By-Step Fulfillment

01

Test & Assess

We test the existing installation to establish its condition and identify faults before quoting any work.

02

Install

New circuits, accessories or a full rewire are installed, with chasing and fixing carried out to a standard the plasterer can work over.

03

Test & Certify

The installation is inspected and tested, and you receive the appropriate certification for the work completed.

Technical Clarifications

Certain work does under Part P, including new circuits and any work in a bathroom or outdoors. Notifiable work must be inspected, tested and certified. We will tell you at survey which category your job falls into.
An Electrical Installation Condition Report is the reliable answer. As a rough guide, rubber or fabric insulated cable, a fuse board with rewireable fuses, and no earth to lighting circuits all point strongly towards a rewire being due.
A partial rewire can often reuse existing routes and limit the damage considerably. A full rewire does involve chasing walls and lifting floors, which is exactly why it is best done as part of a wider refurbishment.
