Service Overview

Rapid Professional
Drainage Response

Tiling is the finish everybody sees and judges, and it is unforgiving of poor preparation. Most tiling failures come from what is underneath rather than the tiling itself: a floor that flexes, a wall that was never flat, or an unprimed substrate that the adhesive never properly bonded to. We tile walls and floors in ceramic, porcelain, natural stone and large format, including bathrooms and wet areas, kitchen splashbacks, hallways, conservatories and commercial floors. Preparation is where we spend the time, with overboarding, levelling compound, priming and decoupling membrane where movement is a risk. Large format porcelain in particular needs a genuinely flat bed and back buttering to avoid hollow spots and lippage.

When You Need This Service

Cracked, drummy or lifting tiles on a floor that flexes underfoot
Grout that keeps cracking or falling out along the same lines
A new bathroom or kitchen needing walls and floors tiled
Large format porcelain that needs an experienced fixer
Natural stone that needs sealing and specialist handling

Step-By-Step Fulfillment

01

Assess Substrate

We check the wall or floor for flatness, movement and suitability, and agree what preparation is required.

02

Prepare

Surfaces are overboarded, levelled, primed or tanked as needed so the adhesive has something sound to bond to.

03

Tile & Grout

Tiles are set out to avoid awkward cuts in visible areas, then fixed, grouted and sealed.

Technical Clarifications

No, and this is the single most common cause of cracked floor tiles. Timber floors move. They need overboarding with a suitable tile backer or ply, or a decoupling membrane, before any tile goes down.
Sometimes, provided the existing tiles are sound, well bonded and the extra height does not cause problems with doors and thresholds. We check adhesion first, because tiling over a failing surface simply doubles the weight on a bond that is already letting go.
Yes. Most natural stone is porous and needs sealing before grouting and again afterwards, then periodically through its life. Unsealed stone stains very quickly, particularly in kitchens and bathrooms.
